SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA TOUR

The North of Chile is home to the Atacama desert, the driest desert in the world. This is the main focus of our tour in which you will visit San Pedro de Atacama, a city nestled in the middle of the desert where you can explore ancient settlements and witness the indigenous culture that has only recently unfolded its mystery to anthropological study. You will watch the earth as it spews sulphuric vapours and boiling water at the geysers, admire the red flamingos or enjoy the silence as the wind blows against the sand dunes.

Despite the barren terrain of this area, here you will find many interesting  attractions, including the Azapa valley and Pica oases where you will see lush green vegetation, the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) with its unique laberynth-like rock formations, Salar de Atacama, a 300,000 hectare salt flat, the Tatio Geysers and several hotsprings. The wildlife and vegetation of the area are also unique and astounding, including llamas, rheas, flamingos alpacas, etc.

Our tour will take you on a walk around the town, a visit to the museum of anthropology where you can see ancient mummies and learn about the history, art and culture of San Pedro de Atacama, a visit to San Pedro colonial church.We will also take one or two trips of your choice to some of the attractions named above which are located within 5 to 90 kms away.

Price will vary depending on how long you would like to stay in the area and whether you would like to return directly back to Santiago or would rather continue travelling north towards Machu Pichu (Perú) and spend  some time there before returning to Santiago. The tour includes flights, accommodation, private transportation, a fluent English-speaking guide, and entrance fees where applicable.
